Mickey Mouse was introduced in 1928, and he instantly became an international icon. In the 1950s, he was the star of his own variety show named The Mickey Mouse Club. The children's program featured the famous Mouseketeers, led by Jimmie and Roy, who entertained with song and dance numbers. The show would also highlight educational newsreels about children around the world, as well as animated cartoons, often with Mickey Mouse himself.
